Solution 01

Potato processing,
from key machines to a full plant

Equipment for potato chips, frozen pre-fried fries and peeled, cut potatoes. We recommend starting with a few key machines rather than a complete line, getting the plant and the product approved, and scaling up once sales are proven — with sourcing, shipping, installation, maintenance and AI upgrades handled by one team.

01 / Peruvian market context

Nearly 7 million tonnes of potatoes a year, and fries still imported

Peru harvests close to 7 million tonnes of potatoes a year, grown by more than 700,000 farming families, yet the country still imports about 27,000–29,000 t of frozen pre-fried potatoes a year. Turning Peruvian potatoes — including colourful native varieties — into chips, fries or flakes adds value close to where they are grown, provided the plant is planned around food-safety approval from the start.

Marea AI sources the machines directly from manufacturers in China, ships them to Peru, and installs, maintains and upgrades them with AI, with training in Spanish. That makes it practical to start with a few machines and grow from there.

02 / Products & process

Potato products

Chips, fries and fresh-cut potatoes share the first steps — reception, washing, peeling and cutting — and then follow their own line. Start with one product and add others as the plant grows.

  • Potato chipsClassic salted or seasoned chips, and chips from coloured native potatoes for a premium shelf. The simplest product to start with: a few key machines and nitrogen-flushed bags.
  • Frozen pre-fried French friesStrips that are blanched, par-fried and quick-frozen for restaurants, pollerías and fast-food chains — the product Peru currently imports. Needs freezing and cold storage, so it usually comes in a second phase.
  • Peeled and cut fresh potatoesWashed, peeled and cut potatoes, chilled and packed for kitchens and caterers. Uses the same washer-peeler and cutter as the chips line, with a cold chain instead of a fryer.
  • Dehydrated flakes and potato starchFlakes for instant purée and food manufacturers, and starch from tubers that are too small or irregular for chips. Larger investments, worth studying once the raw-material supply is secured.

Process flow

  1. Reception, grading & storage
  2. Washing & peeling
  3. Inspection & trimming
  4. Slicing or strip cutting
  5. Rinsing & blanching
  6. Dewatering
  7. Frying or par-frying
  • De-oiling, seasoning, nitrogen packing → Chips
  • Quick-freezing, cold storage → Frozen fries
  • After cutting: chilling and packing → Peeled & cut potatoes

04 / AI upgrades

AI upgrades for a potato line

Raw potatoes vary by variety, field and storage time, and frying colour is a practical indicator for acrylamide. These optional upgrades put cameras, sensors and records where they matter most on a chips or fries line.

A

Vision inspection and sorting

Cameras after the cutter or the fryer can spot dark, green or defective pieces and colour drift, and trigger an air-jet reject or an alert to the operator.

HowIndustrial cameras and an edge computer running an image model trained on your own product; optional optical sorter.

B

Frying control and acrylamide records

Frying colour is a practical indicator for acrylamide, which EU rules ask fried-potato producers to keep as low as reasonably achievable. A model can relate colour, oil temperature and raw-potato data to recommend settings, and keep the records buyers ask for.

HowInline colour measurement, oil-temperature and belt-speed signals from the fryer PLC, and a recommendation model that the operator approves.

C

Raw-potato quality and lot planning

Dry matter and sugar content vary by variety, field and storage time. Logging simple lab tests and supplier data lets a model suggest which lots suit chips or fries, forecast yield and plan purchases around the harvest season.

HowLot records with dry-matter and test-fry colour checks, a forecasting model and a cloud dashboard.

D

Predictive maintenance, HACCP logs and a Spanish assistant

Sensors on motors, pumps and freezer compressors warn before failures; temperatures and checks are logged automatically for the HACCP plan; operators can ask an AI assistant trained on the machine manuals, in Spanish.

HowVibration and current sensors, an IoT gateway, a digital HACCP checklist and an assistant built on the equipment manuals.

All of these are optional. Single machines can take their own upgrades too — for example a brush-wear alert on the washer-peeler or a residual-oxygen sensor on the packer. We assess them with your team and add them step by step, on new machines or on a line you already run.

Phased approach: start with key machines, not a complete line

We recommend a small first phase: prove the product, the approvals and the market, then invest in capacity sized to real sales.

  1. 01

    Key machines

A washer-peeler, slicer, fryer, de-oiling centrifuge and seasoning drum, arranged as a semi-automatic line, are enough to make a first product.

    • Semi-automatic line
  2. 02

    Approvals

Use this phase to get the plant and the product approved — in Peru, DIGESA sanitary registration and a HACCP plan, which DIGESA can validate officially — and to test the market.

    • DIGESA · HACCP
  3. 03

    Target market

Decide early where you will sell. The United States, the European Union and Asian markets each add their own rules, such as FDA food-facility registration in the US or acrylamide mitigation for fried potato products in the EU.

    • US · EU · Asia
  4. 04

    Scale up

Add blanching, higher-capacity frying, freezing or automatic packing, sized to the volumes you have proven. We help you choose machines that connect to the next stage.

    • Sized to proven volumes

Export rules affect plant layout, equipment and record-keeping, so it is cheaper to plan for them before ordering.

05 / FAQ

Questions about potato processing

Do I need a complete production line to start?

No. We recommend starting with the key machines for one product — for chips, a washer-peeler, slicer, fryer, de-oiling centrifuge and seasoning drum in a semi-automatic layout. Once the plant and the product are approved and sales are proven, you add blanching, higher-capacity frying, freezing or automatic packing. We help you choose machines that connect to the next stage.

Which approvals are needed in Peru, and do you obtain them?

Processed foods sold in Peru need DIGESA sanitary registration, and the plant applies a HACCP plan, which DIGESA can validate officially; for exports, DIGESA issues an official sanitary export certificate on request. The plant owner applies for these approvals — we do not issue them. We supply stainless-steel equipment with its technical documentation and train your team in Spanish, which supports your hygiene and HACCP files.

Should we plan for export from the beginning?

Decide the target market early. The United States, the European Union and Asian markets each add their own requirements — for example FDA food-facility registration for the US, or acrylamide mitigation and monitoring for fried potato products in the EU — plus certifications that buyers may ask for. These affect plant layout, equipment and record-keeping, so it is cheaper to plan for them before ordering.

Can the machines process Peruvian native potatoes?

In general, yes. Native potatoes vary in size, shape, dry matter and sugar content, so knives and blanching and frying settings are adjusted per variety. We set these up with your own potatoes during commissioning and train your operators to adjust them.

How do delivery, installation and after-sales work?

We quote FOB China port or CIF Callao; delivery is usually 30–60 days after order confirmation, paid by T/T or L/C. We install on site or remotely, train your team in Spanish, give a 12-month warranty from commissioning, and offer maintenance plans, remote technical support and spare parts shipped from China. AI upgrades can be fitted from the start or added later.

Alpaca fiber processing,
from fleece to yarn

Machines for every stage of alpaca fiber — scouring, dehairing, carding, gilling, spinning, twisting and hank reeling — for cooperatives in the Andes and processors across Latin America. From a cooperative-scale mini mill to a small industrial line, sourced from Chinese manufacturers, installed and supported in Spanish, with optional AI upgrades.

01 / Peru’s alpaca sector

The world’s alpaca country, with value still to add

Peru is home to most of the world’s alpacas, and more than 90,000 high-Andean families live mainly from raising them. Yet in the first five months of 2025, more than half of the export value was raw material, mostly scoured, carded and combed tops. Cooperatives and regional processors that add scouring, carding and spinning keep more of that value close to the herds.

04 / AI upgrades

AI upgrades for the alpaca mill

Yarn prices depend on the grade, and a stopped card or spinning frame hurts most when spare parts travel far. These optional upgrades add cameras, sensors and lot records where an alpaca mill gains the most.

A

Assisted fiber classing

A camera station and fiber-fineness measurements can support the classers: every fleece gets a record, and a model suggests its grade and color group so lots come out more consistent. The classer always makes the final call.

HowCamera station, portable fiber-diameter tester, image-classification model, lot database

B

Predictive maintenance

Vibration, temperature and motor-current sensors on cards, gill boxes and spinning frames can warn of worn bearings, drives or belts before a breakdown stops the line — which matters most where spare parts travel far.

HowWireless vibration and current sensors, edge gateway, anomaly-detection model, alerts by phone

C

Lot traceability and process dashboard

Each fiber lot can be followed from classing to finished cone or skein, with water, energy and machine settings logged along the way. The same data can back the origin and responsible-sourcing records that buyers ask for.

HowQR lot labels, water and energy meters, cloud dashboard with exportable reports

HowLanguage model loaded with manuals and procedures, on a tablet or phone, backed by remote support

Machine by machine

  • Fiber scouring lineSensors for bowl temperature, detergent dosing and water use can feed a dashboard that suggests settings for each fiber lot and signals when bowls need draining, to keep water, energy and chemicals in check.
  • Dehairing machineA camera over the output web can flag visible impurities and changes in web quality, alongside regular fiber-diameter tests; vibration and motor-current sensors can give early warning of bearing or drive faults.
  • Carding machineSliver-weight sensors and an optional autoleveler can log evenness per lot, while a dashboard can track motor load, output and running hours since the last clothing service, so maintenance is planned and settings for each grade are reused.
  • Gill boxAn autoleveler with sliver sensors can record thickness variation for every can; the trends show when pins, faller bars or settings need attention and help match drafts to each lot.
  • Ring spinning frameSpindle monitoring can spot end breaks and slow spindles in real time on a tablet; break rates by lot help set twist and speed for each alpaca grade.
  • Two-for-one twisterYarn-break and tension sensors per spindle can log faults and package lengths, and a simple dashboard can tie twist settings to each yarn lot, so knitters and weavers get consistent plied yarn.
  • Hank reeling machineA connected counter and scale can record the length and weight of every hank and print QR lot labels, giving buyers traceability from fiber lot to finished skein.

All of these are optional. We assess them with your team and add them step by step, on new machines or on a mill you already run, alongside sourcing, shipping, installation and maintenance.

Before you start

  • Class the fiber firstSort fleeces by fineness, length and color before processing. Peru’s technical standards NTP 231.300 (fleece) and NTP 231.301 (classed fiber) give buyers and sellers a common language, and both machine settings and yarn prices depend on the grade.
  • Test your own lotsDehairing makes alpaca softer and finer, but it also shortens the fiber. Trial your own lots before choosing a woolen or a worsted route.
  • Water, steam and climateScouring needs a reliable water supply, a boiler and a plan for treating greasy wastewater. Spinning rooms run best with controlled temperature and humidity.
  • Start small, grow with volumeMany cooperatives start with a mini mill built around a few key machines and add others as fiber volumes grow.

General guidance only; the current official versions of the NTP standards prevail.

01 / Peru’s timber sector

Vast forests, and room to add value at the mill

Forests cover more than half of Peru, mostly Amazon rainforest. A PRODUCE analysis points to obsolete machinery and a lack of saw-sharpening and wood-drying technology in many plants. Adding kiln drying, planing and residue use can help a mill sell finished, higher-value products instead of rough boards.

Cameras over the outfeed detect knots, splits, decay and wane and propose a grade for each board, so grading stays consistent from shift to shift and every board’s grade is recorded.

HowLine-scan cameras + an AI defect-detection model trained on your species and grading rules

C

Smarter kiln drying

Air temperature, humidity and wood-moisture readings are logged for every charge. Over time the data help refine drying schedules per species and thickness, and the team receives alerts on their phones when something goes off track.

HowKiln moisture probes + controller data + cloud dashboard and mobile alerts

D

Log-to-product traceability records

Each log gets a tag and a photo linked to its transport documents; its boards are then tracked by batch through sawing, drying and packing. This helps keep the operations book and buyer records organized; it does not replace the official documents.

HowQR or RFID tags + tablet app + AI text reading of scanned documents

All of these are optional. We assess them with your team and add them step by step, on new machines or on a mill you already run, alongside sourcing, shipping, installation and maintenance.

Before you start

  • Legal timber and traceability from day oneUnder Peru’s Forestry and Wildlife Law (Law 29763), timber in its natural state or after primary processing moves with a forest transport guide (GTF). Primary processing plants keep an official operations book, on paper or in SERFOR’s app, recording everything that comes in and goes out, and must verify the legal origin of the products they process.
  • Who does whatMarea AI supplies and installs the equipment. Buying only legally sourced timber and keeping the documents up to date is the operator’s responsibility; SERFOR develops the mechanisms to verify legal origin and chain of custody.
  • Species and power on siteDense tropical hardwoods drive blade type, motor sizing and drying schedules, so define your species mix early. Confirm the power supply at the site as well, so the machines are specified for it.

What the system covers

A system can start with one need — security, pests or microclimate — and grow module by module, with cameras, traps and sensors all reporting to the same platform. It works for a single producer as well as for cooperatives that watch many sites.

  • Orchard and perimeter securitySolar 4G cameras with AI alerts when people or vehicles enter boundaries, packing areas or reservoirs at night.
  • Pest and disease monitoringSmart light traps and field cameras that count pests and flag symptoms, so scouts go where they are needed first.
  • Microclimate and irrigationWeather stations and soil sensors for frost warnings, irrigation scheduling and disease-risk alerts.
  • Growth tracking and harvest planningRegular images from fixed cameras follow flowering, fruit set and growth by block, supporting yield estimates.
  • Monitoring centre for many sitesOne platform for associations, with maps, alarms, reports and role-based access.

How a project runs

We review the area, crops, risks, power and mobile coverage, then set the positions of cameras, traps and sensors, choose edge or cloud AI and agree a privacy plan before anything is bought.

04 / AI upgrades

AI for farm monitoring

Cameras, traps and sensors produce more images and readings than anyone can review by hand. These optional AI functions pick out what matters, run on the camera, on an edge AI box or in the cloud, and report in Spanish.

A

Intrusion and theft alerts

Cameras can raise an alarm only when a person or vehicle enters a defined zone at set hours, send a snapshot to the guard’s phone and switch on lights or a voice warning.

HowDeep-learning person/vehicle detection on the camera or edge box; zone and schedule rules; 4G push alerts

B

Pest counts and early warning

Trap photos can be identified and counted automatically, with trends charted per block and a warning to the agronomist when a threshold is reached.

HowImage recognition on trap photos in the cloud or at the edge; models refined with locally labelled images

C

Crop growth and yield tracking

Regular images can show flowering, fruit set and canopy changes by block, helping plan labour and harvest.

HowTime-lapse image analysis with flower and fruit detection models; comparison between blocks and seasons

D

Spanish-speaking assistant and daily report

An assistant can summarise overnight alarms, weather and trap counts each morning and answer staff questions about the system and its manuals.

HowLarge language model connected to the platform’s events and equipment documentation, with role-based access

All of these are optional. We assess them with your team and add them step by step, on new equipment or on a system you already run, alongside sourcing, shipping, installation and maintenance.

Plan these from the start

  • PrivacyCameras that can capture identifiable people fall under Peru’s Personal Data Protection Law (Ley 29733) and the data-protection authority’s video-surveillance directive: visible notices, a registered image database and limited retention. We can configure privacy masking and retention periods; the operator remains responsible.
  • Connectivity and import4G modules must support the local operators’ bands, and radio equipment may need MTC type approval (homologación) before import, so we check this model by model.
  • UpkeepSolar kits are sized to local sun hours, and trap chambers and camera lenses need regular cleaning by someone on site.

05 / FAQ

Questions about AI farm monitoring

Do the cameras need mains power or a fixed internet line?

No. Each pole can run on a solar panel and lithium battery and send video over 4G. Where coverage is weak, recording and AI can stay on site and only alarms are sent. We size the kit from the location and coverage information you share.

Can the AI tell an intruder from a dog or a worker?

It can tell people and vehicles from animals and moving leaves, which cuts false alarms. It does not know intent, so alarms are set by zone and schedule, and a person should review each event.

What about privacy and personal data?

Images of identifiable people are personal data under Ley 29733. We can configure privacy masking, access by user role and retention periods; the operator places the notices and registers the image database with the authority. We sign an NDA before sharing project information.

Can the system identify pests and diseases automatically?

Trap images can be identified and counted for common species, and cameras can flag visible symptoms. The models need local images and an agronomist’s confirmation: the system supports field scouting and official plant-health programmes, it does not replace them.

What warranty, delivery and support do you offer?

Delivery is usually 30–60 days after order confirmation, FOB China port or CIF Callao. Equipment has a 12-month warranty from commissioning, installation can be on site or remote, training is in Spanish, and maintenance plans, remote technical support and spare parts shipped from China are available.

Vehicle air filters and spare parts,
sourced to your list

Products rather than production machines: panel, heavy-duty and cabin air filters, plus housings and pre-cleaners, made by factories in China to your OEM or cross-reference numbers. We check every reference, arrange samples and inspection, and quote factory-direct, FOB China port or CIF Callao.

01 / Peruvian context

More vehicles, more dust, and filters that already come from China

Peru’s vehicle fleet is growing fast, and mines, quarries and unpaved roads put heavy dust loads on many engines. Air filters are a steady, high-volume purchase — and by number of units, most of the engine air filters Peru imports already come from China.

That makes buying factory-direct against your own part-number list a practical option. Marea AI checks each reference, compares factories in China, arranges samples and inspection, and ships to Callao, with the same team that sources production equipment.

04 / AI upgrades

AI for buying and using filters

With a long reference list, the hard parts are matching the right part, ordering in time and catching errors before the goods ship. These optional tools put AI on exactly those steps, and a person always makes the final call.

A

Part-number matching assistant

Long reference lists, photos of used filters and old invoices can be read and matched to equivalent references. Size or seal mismatches and every uncertain match are flagged for a person to check before ordering.

HowLanguage model and image recognition working on cross-reference tables; final check by a person

B

Demand forecast and re-order planning

Your sales or workshop history can be used to forecast which references you will need and when, so orders from China go out early enough and stock stays balanced.

HowTime-series forecasting on your own data, shown in a spreadsheet or dashboard

C

Visual check of samples and lots

Photos taken at inspection can be compared with the approved sample to catch wrong sizes, damaged seals, pleat differences or label errors before the goods leave the factory.

HowCamera photos and an image-comparison model; the inspector decides

D

Filter changes by condition

For truck and machinery fleets, restriction sensors on the air cleaner can show when each filter really needs changing. Combined with machine hours, the data helps plan pre-cleaner and filter service by site and season, and spots units that clog faster than the rest.

HowElectronic restriction indicators, telematics and a dashboard with alerts

All of these are optional. We assess them with your team and add them step by step, within the same service that covers sourcing, inspection, shipping and support.

Plan these from the start

  • An exact reference listOEM or cross-reference numbers, machine models and yearly quantities. The list is what we source against, so the more precise it is, the better the match.
  • Approved samplesSamples are checked and approved by you before the bulk order goes into production.
  • Spanish labels for PeruManufactured products sold to end users in Peru must carry Spanish-language labels that meet Legislative Decree 1304, which INDECOPI supervises. Packaging and labelling are done as agreed with you.
  • Your brand or the factory’sOEM numbers are used only as fit references. The filters can carry the factory’s brand or your own, never another company’s trademark.
